After months of poor performance and limited control over the configuration of our web site and supporting web apps, we decided it was time to take web hosting seriously but also to try out the "Cloud".
Elastic Hosts are one of only a handful of cloud providers based in the UK, critical for speedy service to UK and European consumers. Still in a "Beta" phase the service is cheap, simple and does what it needs to without some of the features but critically most of the costs of some larger rivals such as Amazon.
Support is forthcoming if a little slow and the web front end provided is usable but screaming out for online support and/or a support forum. But minor gripes aside, the technology seems sound, performance is excellent and pricing is very keen for a UK provider.
Time will tell as the service expands, however, its been promising enough for us to sign up for a year after a trial month.
What we particularly like is the flexibility to change resource levels with nothing more than a reboot, we can even run 2 smaller servers or one medium server for the same total resources and therefore price.
